Have you considered what video could do for your business? In what ways could you adapt the use of video to promote your business? Equipment for recording web quality video is affordable and with sites like UStream and Mogulus you can even stream live video for free.
I have a few suggestions for ways you could use video on the web:
Message from the owner
Tour of your showroom
Individual product videos
Weekly video newsletters
Frequently asked question replies
Product instructions
Behind the scenes look at your business
Video Coupon
Video Deal of the Week
So how do you set that up?
Lights
If you are not able to shoot video in a well lighted, evenly lit area, you may need some form of lighting. If you are planning ongoing videos, thinking about investing in some good softbox lights, or some basic spotlights with a light diffusion to reduce the hard light. In our studios we use Pro Lighting Soft Boxes similar to these.

Camera
For live video streaming you’ll need a camera that can hook up to your computer and a high speed internet connection. For uploaded videos, Web Video Cameras something like the Flip Video Camera or the upcoming Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera.
Action
Set up a nice background and go ahead and make Mom proud and by cleaning off your desk.
Set the script – or at least an outline of what you want to present.
Practice a few times . . . on short videos, it’s much easier to redo it a few times to get it right than to learn video editing.
Once its recorded, be sure to upload it to several video websites and make sure you have a link back to your website in the description area. (And some great SEO friendly terms in the Name and Description, too).
Can it be that simple? Sure. We are currently testing live broadcasts weekly for our Retail Websites and posting the videos on their own Video Blog at www.CoolShoppingIdeas.com. And last week, we actually took our video equipment over to Wardrobe Therapy – a designer fashion boutique on Jacksonville’s Southside and worked with them to set up their first Fashion Makeover Web Show.
Think you’re ready for the next level? If you need help, we offer web video studio services and consulting to help businesses with different levels of web marketing.
Web Video is affordable and can drive new business to your business, when is the best time to get started?
