Not to belittle the hard work and effort that SEO Pros like myself put into making your site rank better, but it truly is a numbers and words game.
If you want to out rank the competition, you need to have an on par or better quality of information, you need to use the best words in your title tags, and you need to have more quality back links than they do for your search phrase.
See, SEO isn’t all that hard.
“SIMPLE?” I can hear some of you screaming… “My competition has more links than me, they have more visitors than me …yada yada yada”
Just out-do them. Set a plan and make it happen. In my course Kick The Competition folks learned how to turn 20 minutes a day into massive marketing results. You can use that same strategy to improve your SEO, too.
If you CREATE YOUR SEO PLAN and then WORK THE PLAN – consistently – the results will begin to happen.
Here are the basics:
- Determine the keyword phrase you want to rank for, for that specific page.
- Make a great title tag – put your keyword phrase first – and craft the rest to make folks WANT to click it
- Improve the page content – make sure it’s specific to the keyword phrase – and friendly for the intended audience.
- Update your meta keywords – even if they are not used in search, it will help YOU keep track of exactly what you’re trying to rank for on that page.
- Include a keyword rich, compelling “offer” meta description – many times this is what Google shows when your web page appears in the search results.
- Get quality, anchor text rich back links, from websites that cater to customers in your niche – a link from a Cruise website about waterproof cases for cruises is a much stronger link than one from a Baby Shower website.
In 20 minutes you should be able to get 2 unique, quality back links to your site. If your competitor – especially at local level – has 20 back links – you can have that many in 10 days.
Spend more time doing and less time complaining about what you have to do, and more will get done.
