<p>I really enjoyed presenting this topic.  It&#8217;s like a walk down memory lane for me.  The things we talked about tonight in some ways things long forgotten but used in our every day lives. </p>

<p>I had to read the article, as most of you know our I help run our family business with my partner / spouse, Toi. My favorite quote in the whole article was also from Doug &#8230; </p>
<p>Doug, hats off to you for doing a great job in marketing yourself and being visible, credible and of course quotable. </p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a quick summary of the article in Doug&#8217;s own words &#8220;if you are working with a spouse, keep a clear separation of the roles you play, set up your spouse for success, and have fun.  And, as the article states, “If all else fails, Mr. Wilder says, ‘keep it all in perspective.  It is easier to get a new business than a new spouse.’”   </p>
<p>Of course my favorite part is the last line &#8221; It is easier to get a new business than a new spouse.&#8221;</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Who is the targeted buyer &#8211; primary market for this SPECIFIC web page or specific product ? </strong>Affluent man old enough to afford a Ducati, young enough to enjoy riding it</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>What is their REAL Demographic? Gender, Age, Income, Experience ? </strong>Man, 35-40,  $100,000, Married ?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>What do THEY (the visitor) want when they get to that specific web pages? </strong>Are they search for Information? Price? Photos? Videos? Dream Building? Craving a Test Drive?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The beautiful thing about keywords is that they are the bridge between you and your customers.  Are you using them to connect transactions to your website, or for someone to research from you and go and buy from someone else?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Some suggested keywords you would use to RANK if you wanted to SELL this motorcycle locally would be:</p>

And now with universal search expanding the search results include listings from blogs, video, forums, shopping and more &#8211; all in the pursuit to deliver us the most relevant results to maintain their relationship with our keyboards and eyes. Add Local Business Listings (now known as Google Places) to the mix with the MAP, and natural search results are nearly out of view on any given, especially local, search.</p>

And it&#8217;s becoming more and more obvious that being at the top of Natural Search Engine Listings does not necessarily put you at the top of Google, particularly in the area of local search results.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">First, you must get your local business on the Google Map. If you have not claimed your business listing, do it today.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Next, continue to focus on natural search engine optimization because the Google Map does not pop up on every local search result.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Last, think outside of the website and look for ways to rank in the natural search from other directories, blogs, forums and websites, too, looking for ways to get your business in front of the searcher.</p>
