Friends and colleagues continually ask me how I keep up with all the things happening on the Social Networking sites. It’s really a simple answer, I don’t. Just because you see my name here and there and everywhere doesn’t mean I am always live, all the time. Lately I would say I have been more of a Facebook addict than ever before, but that’s because there has been a massive influx of folks that I actually know. It seems like everyone from High School and College are all putting there best foot forward and we’re all connecting.

So back to the point. You don’t have to be everywhere - all the time. Social Networking is just like real live networking, without the need to be in the same city at the same moment in the same room. If you want to get started, then just do it. You don’t have to have a million friends, and you don’t need your teenagers permission. The more they protest, the more you probably do need to be there :-). But you can network at your pace - in your leisure time, whether that’s one hour a week or two hours a day - it’s completely up to you.

The fun part … it is a blast to catch up with friends at my own pace. I don’t have to rush from person to person like you would at a reunion. I can check out profiles, see pictures of their families and learn about their businesses. In fact, I came across an amazing castle wedding cake design and had no idea my friend Michelle made such wonderful things.

The profit part … because I completed my profile with keyword rich information, my friends, in my network are searching for SEO and Search Engine Consulting are finding me - and contacting me about providing services for their companies - too cool.
